Lifeguards opening day

The Bournemouth Lifeguard Corps marked a major milestone on Saturday 20 September with the official opening of its brand-new, UK Government-funded building and training facility. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by the Mayor of Bournemouth, coinciding with the Corps’ 60th Anniversary.

Founded in 1965, the Bournemouth Lifeguard Corps has grown into a vibrant club with over 100 active members, ranging from Rookies and Cadets to adult lifeguards. The new facility is set to enhance the club’s mission of promoting health, fitness, and wellbeing through dynamic training both on the beach and in the pool.

The Corps is dedicated to helping individuals develop lifesaving skills in a fun, supportive, and active environment. By encouraging physical activity and mental resilience, the club continues to play a vital role in the local community.

The opening event was a celebration of both the Corps’ rich history and its exciting future, as it continues to inspire and train the next generation of lifeguards.
